SAFETY
PRECAUTIONS
1.Turn off power at main electrical
service box before starting installation.
2. Electrical connections must comply with local code ordinances
or national electrical codes.
3. Make sure the installation site you choose allows the fan
blades to rotate freely without any obstructions.
4. When mountinig the fan on a ceiling outlet box, use a metal
octagon box. The outlet box and its support must be able to
withstand the moving weight of the fan(minimum of 35 lbs).

Instructions:
A ceiling fan has a totally internal switching system for
total operation by way of pull chain on a fan/light combination.
Three pull chains will exist. One for light, on and off.The
second is for fan speeds. This will be marked (speed) on the
fan switch housing.
1st Pull will give fan High Speed.
2nd Pull will give fan Medium Speed
3rd Pull will give fan Low Speed
4th Pull will Shut Fan Off
The third pull chain is for Forward/Reverse. This setting
would usually be changed once per year .Downdraft for summer
to create a wind chill to give a cooling effect. An Updraft
in winter to circulate the hot stratified air off the ceiling
and back down to the floor without creating a wind chill.

INSTALLATION
NOTE:All set screws must be checked and re-tightened where
necessary, after installation.
1.MOUNTING OPTION
A.DOWNROD MOUNT
-Obtain fan motor.
-Remove cotter pin and bolt from yoke.
-Loosen jam screw in yoke until it is flush with the inside
surface.
-Obtain downrod and canopy.
-Place downrod inside canopy.
-Route wires exiting motor through canopy and downrod.
-Insert bolt through hole in shaft and downrod. "Be careful
not to damage or cut the fan wires."
-Secure bolt with cotter pin.
-Secure downrod in position by tightening jam screws and lock
nut.
^ Go back to top
B.FLUSH MOUNT
-Remove rubber ring from canopy.
-Place canopy on fan housing by aligning 3 larger holes of canopy over 3 existing screws on the motor housing.
-Secure canopy to motor housing by placing 3 screws and washers (supplied in hardware package) in the 3 smaller holes in the canopy.
^ Go back to top
2.INSTALL MOUNTING BRACKET
-Secure rubber gasket, spark plate and mounting bracket to
metal outlet box using outlet box screws.
-Secure once more by placing two wood screws and flat washers
(supplied) through outer slots of mounting bracket and spark
plate and into the wooden joist. Leave one of the wood screws
sufficiently loose to allow the safety cable to be looped
around before final tightening.
NOTE: For ease of wiring feed house wires through spark plate and mounting bracket.

3.HOOKING UP SAFETY CABLE A.DOWNROD MOUNT
-Obtain fan and place hemisphere of downrod into mounting bracket.
-Rotate fan until the slot in the hemisphere locks into the tab of the mounting bracket.
-Place looped end of safety cable over the one wood screw and flat washer not previously tightened(in step2).
-Tighten above wood screw securing the safety cable.
B
-Obtain fan and align one of the two oblong holes in canopy with the pin on the mounting bracket.

4.ELECTRICAL HOOK UP
-There are several different wiring combinations that can be used in controlling your ceiling fan to meet your specific requirements. Should the following method not meet your requirements call or visit your Signature distributor for a full list of fan accessories.
CAUTION:
Green Wire-GROUND
Black Wire(Fan)-POWER
White Wire(Fan)-COMMON
Red or Blue Wire(Light Kit)-POWER
A.CONNECTING THE (GREEN) GROUND WIRE
NOTE:Once ground wires are connected, carefully tuck wires and marrette into the metal outlet box making sure that the wires are clear of the hemisphere and downrod when positioned in mounting bracket(Downrod Mount Only).
B.CONNECTING BLACK, WHITE, AND(RED OR BLUE) WIRES.
-Connect white wire from outlet box to white wire from fan using a marrette(not supplied).
-Connect black wire from outlet box to black wire from fan plus(red or blue wire) using a marrette.
NOTE: A red or blue wire would be power for a light kit if applicable.
NOTE: Once wires are connected, carefully tuck wires and marrette into the metal outlet box making sure that the wires are clear of the hemisphere and downrod when positioned in mounting bracket(Downrod Mount Only).

6.MOUNTING BLADE BRACKETS TO BLADES A."DIE-CAST' BLADE BRACKETS TO BLADES
-Obtain hardware package containing
blade bracket screws and washers.
-Place fibre washer over screw.
-Place screw through blade hole and slip a rubber washer over
the screw.
-Align screw with blade bracket and secure.
-Repeat for other two crews. Once all blade brackets are attached to blades double check that screws are tight.

B."MEDALLION STYLE" BLADE BRACKETS TO BLADES
-Obtain hardware package containing blade bracket screws and washers.
-Place fibre washer over screw.
-Place rubber washers in holes of blades.
-Position bottom blade bracket and top blade bracket with blade.

7.MOUNTING BLADE BRACKETS AND BLADES TO MOTOR
NOTE:CHOICE OF 4 OR 5 BLADES(OPTION ON SOME FANS)
-Some fans offer the option of four or five blade operation. In these cases there will be two rows of screw holes in the motor casing. The inside row till contain 8 holes for 4 blades and the outside row will contain 10 holes for 5 blade use.

-Obtain hardware containing motor screws
and lock washers.
-Place lock washers over motor screws, positron motor screws
in blade brackets, and secure to motor. Make sure all screws
are tightened securely.
 |
NOTE:On those fans with an extra
wide switch housing cover there will be a cut out section
provided allowing access to screws when installing the
blade brackets.
NOTE:Fan comes with THREE RUBBER STOPS on motor for
shipping purpose only. Remove stops before installing
the blades to the motor. |

| TROUBLESHOOTING |
| TROUBLE |
SUGGESTIONS |
| 1.Fan will not start. |
-Check fuses and circuit breakers.
-Check wiring connections to fan.
-Check wiring connections in switch housing.
CAUTION:Turn power off for last two items.
|
| 2.Fan sounds noisy. |
-Check to make sure that all screws in motor housing
are snug.
-Check to make sure that blade bracket screws are tight.
-Check to make sure that marrettes in switch housing are
not ratting against wall of switch housing.
-If fan has a light kit make sure switch housing screws
and set screws are tight.
-Some fan motors are sensitive to signals from solid state
variable controls. If solid state controller is used,
change to an alternative control.(See a Signature representative
for a list of available controls.)
-Allow a 24 hours break in period to eliminate most noises.
|
| 3.Fan wobbles or shakes excessively. |
-Check that all blades are screwed firmly into blade
brackets.
-Check distance from tip of blades to ceiling. Gently
bend up or down the blade brackets until all distances
are the same.
-Check distance between blade tip to blade tip.All measurements
should be equal. Loosen blade screws and position blade
until even then re-tighten.
-Check that the downrod hemisphere notch is engaged in
canopy.
-Check to make sure that jam screws in downrod are tightened.
-Make sure canopy and mounting bracket are tightened securely
to wooden joist.
-Make sure warpage has not occurred in wooden blades.
If so, contact the Signature customer service department
for replacement parts.
-Occasionally slight weight variations can be caused by
moisture during transportation. All fans are supplied
with balancing kits and installation instructions to eliminate
this problem.
